I decided to try to put myself in other peoples shoes. I documented this endeavor on a blog titled, “In Your Shoes.” Participants chose a pair of shoes to lend me for a day and I documented my experience in photographs and writing. I went several weeks without wearing my own shoes and occasionally still try this. I also tried approaching people on the street to ask if they would like to trade shoes for a little while as I walked with them towards their destination. Surprisingly, many people were willing.
This project seeks to explore and test a common idiom by enacting it literally, playing with language and the possibility of (failed) gesture.
