Performance with Ruth Sodtke, 2009
For Carrot top: a red head focus group Ruth Sodtke and I (both red heads ourselves) hosted a gathering of people (and one dog) who identified as red heads. The conversation ranged from what it meant to us to have red hair, to our experiences growing up as red heads, and what red hair seems to signify in the cultural imagination. We recorded the event in video as well as a collective chalk board drawing.
Carrot top was held during the conference “From Canada to the World: The cultural influence of Lucy Maud Montgomery” and documentation was included in a show inspired by the work of Lucy Maud Montgomery.
